Moreau Fellows – Paolo Canuto ’14 and Kristie Alejo ’15


Paolo Canuto ’14 graduated from San Francisco Art Institute, class of 2018, and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film with a minor in painting. He’s received the George Kuchar Film Award during his last year at SFAI, which honors students’ for their collaborative and forward thinking mentality in filmmaking. As a freelance filmmaker, Paolo has had the opportunity to be a part of films that have been featured in festivals such as Another Hole in the Head. He also co-founded Carcosa Film Festival, which was established in 2017. His interests not only fall within filmmaking; he’s an interdisciplinary artist that loves to explore all kinds of medium of art: painting, drawing, animation, installation, and much more. He’s very excited to work with his old teachers, and help educate students with his new knowledge and experiences he’s acquired during his all of his short films and projects he has worked on.

Paolo will be working with the Advancement Department as well as in the classroom with Paul McKenna ’83. He is excited to share he expertise and love of filmmaking with the students of McKenna’s MCTV classes and with the wider community. He hopes to create videos that showcase all the goings-on of Moreau in a fun and creative way.

Kristie Alejo ’15 is proud alumna of Moreau Catholic, class of 2015, and recent graduate of the University of California, Riverside. As a Highlander, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Anthropology. While she was earning her degree, she was also a NCAA Division 1 volleyball student-athlete, competing in the Big West Conference. During her time in the inland empire, she was also an undergraduate intern in the UCR Sports Medicine Clinic.

Kristie will be working with the Campus Ministry Team and with Nichole McGowan helping to support Student Activities. She can’t wait to share her experiences and knowledge that she has garnered, as a mentor to students and to once again be a Mariner!
